Christian Universities Differ from More Traditional Universities
There are a number of differences between Christian Universities and more traditional universities. Christian colleges offer a religious-centered philosophy that will reinforce an individual's faith and beliefs. Faculty members are committed to upholding the core values and faith-based statements of the college. Students can rely on the faculty and school to teach and adhere to the principles of the Bible.
Christian Universities are uniquely equipped to provide more positive relationships for their students. Christian Schools, on average, are much smaller than traditional schools. This allows the faculty and administration to provide more attention to students. Also, a smaller student body is more likely to look out for one another and provide accountability and encouragement to a young individual facing new opportunities and challenges.
Christian colleges also provide Christian students with a more familiar atmosphere. A normal university campus can be quite a culture shock for incoming students. A Christian campus can provide a more wholesome environment with just as many opportunities without the stress and distractions.
The quality of a Christian education is different than other higher education institutions. Educators at Christian Universities focus on subjects that are deemed by God to be of the utmost importance. A biblical focus informs the content, manner and the scope of the educational experience. Christian schools are also less influenced by fads and culture.
A Christian college also teaches from a biblical worldview. This worldview will see God as the source of truth in science, history, mathematics and all other disciplines. This reinforces the Christian belief that God knows all things intimately and he is a driving force in all their studies.
Here are a number of things that Christian universities offer that may not be available at more traditional universities:
Socially: A college or universities sense of community and social atmosphere are very important aspects for a student to consider when choosing a school. Students are most comfortable when they feel like they fit in. Christian universities make developing a sense of community and relationship building a priority.
Spiritually: Most Christian university attendees' faith and spiritual life are very important to them. A Christian college offers individuals the opportunity to live and learn from other individuals who share their beliefs and values. Individuals are encouraged to nourish their relationship with God and openly share their opinions and ideas about faith.
In Service: A majority of Christian universities prioritize a service-minded outlook. Christians are called to express their faith through service and the university will reinforce this belief. Christian colleges provide many opportunities for students to volunteer at organization within the community.
Scholastically: Christian universities offer religious individuals the advantage of learning how their studies integrate with their Christian world-view. The education will not be based strictly on subject matter and practices. It will also incorporate a connection to your spiritual life.
Christian universities offer a community where Christian morals and beliefs are upheld and valued by the campus community. They offer individuals the opportunity to develop into a person of God and to grow holistically. Education at a Christian university offers faith-based individuals an environment where their beliefs and values will be reinforced and nourished.
